Audio and Auto HDR issues in the Windows 11 (24H2) update and their impact on performance
The Windows 11 24H2 update is the best, yes, but it may cause your device to stop working
Users who received the latest “Windows 11” update (24H2), which was released last October, encountered some technical problems that affected the performance of their devices, according to Microsoft's confirmation.
The company pointed to two main problems; the first relates to audio, while the second concerns the Auto HDR feature, which aims to improve visual display quality.
The audio problem currently manifests on certain devices running Dirac Audio technology, involving the cridspapo.dll file that manages audio processing.
This problem causes the sound to cut out completely through the built-in speakers, Bluetooth speakers, headphones, and other audio devices, with no temporary fix available for those affected so far.
Technical problems after the Windows 11 (24H2) update and their impact on devices
After installing the latest Windows 11 update (24H2), which was launched last October, technical problems affecting device performance were found, according to Microsoft's confirmation.
The second problem concerns the Auto HDR feature, which converts images from standard dynamic range (SDR) to high dynamic range (HDR). This glitch causes incorrect colors to appear and may cause games to stop responding. The only solution currently available is to disable that feature completely.
In response to these problems, Microsoft stopped offering the Windows 11 (24H2) update for affected devices until the bugs are fixed. It is worth noting that this is not the first time the Windows 11 (24H2) update has been halted, as users previously faced problems after installing the update, and it was suspended and then re-released by the company.
Problems with the latest Windows 11 update (24H2): audio issues and the Auto HDR feature raise concern
The list of known issues in Windows 11 version 24H2 has expanded with two new problems: the first affects gamers who use the Auto HDR feature, and the second may cause the audio output on your computer to fail.
Microsoft decided to apply a temporary block on system updates “from one company” due to the audio problems on Windows 11 version 24H2. The glitch was observed on computers running Dirac Audio technology and the cridspapo.dll file (audio processing software for improving sound clarity and accuracy). This glitch results in the systems being unable to output audio to the built-in speakers, Bluetooth speakers, headphones, and other audio devices.
The Windows 11 (24H2) update halted on certain devices due to the audio problem: details of the issue and the solution
A compatibility safeguard hold was imposed on a limited group of devices from one company due to an audio problem after installing Windows 11, version 24H2. This fault was observed on some devices that include Dirac Audio technology with the cridspapo.dll file. The incompatibility relates to the cridspapo.dll software component, which forms part of the audio processing software for these devices. Dirac Audio is a digital audio enhancement technology that improves sound clarity and accuracy.
