What Happened in the Chemistry Exam – General Secondary 2024
Complaints were filed by students of the Science Division in the General Secondary exams regarding the difficulty of the Chemistry subject exam. Students confirmed that the questions contained difficult and strange ideas with puzzles, and that the exam level exceeded the outstanding student and reached the teacher's level. Twenty percent of the questions were long and 30% were difficult, meaning that half of the question level was hard and required concentration and understanding. In addition, the difficulty of the Chemistry exam in the General Secondary caused some students to cry and others to break down.
The General Secondary exams this year witnessed complaints from Science Division students about the difficulty of the Chemistry subject exam. Students confirmed that the questions were difficult and strange, contained puzzles, and indicated that the exam level exceeded the capabilities of outstanding students and reached the level of teachers. They reported that 50% of the question level was difficult and required concentration and understanding, with 20% of questions being long and 30% being difficult. The difficulty of the exam caused some students to cry and others to break down.

On another front, Dr. Mohamed Abdel Latif, Minister of Education and Technical Education, ensured close follow-up on the progress of the General Secondary exams through the Central Operations Room at the Ministry. Dr. Ahmed Daher, Deputy Minister and Director-General of General Secondary Exams, was also present, along with Mohsen Abdel Aziz, Deputy Director-General of Exams.
Before the exam began, the Minister communicated with the directors of educational directorates and representatives of the Ministry of Interior to ensure the security of exam committee venues in all governorates and the provision of question papers. The Minister directed the directorates to exert further efforts to regulate the conduct of the exams and provide comfort for students.
While inspecting the Technical Committee room responsible for reviewing the question papers and answer models, the Minister expressed his desire to ensure the quality of the review before the correction process begins.
For his part, Dr. Ahmed Daher directed committee heads to verify the cameras inside the committees before and after the exam, ensure the distribution of questions at the specified time, and strictly apply inspection procedures and allow students to enter at the scheduled time.
After the Science Division students finished the Chemistry exam in the General Secondary, they became interested in knowing their performance on the exam and the correct answers. We contacted Karim Tarek, a Chemistry teacher, who confirmed that the exam was appropriate and that there were no difficult questions, but it contained some simple matters that students should pay attention to.
