Google Celebrates Father's Day Through Its Search Engine

Google, the world's most famous search engine, celebrated Father's Day this Friday, which falls on June 21st this year. Google changed its usual official interface and replaced it with animated drawings depicting a father playing with his child, expressing the strong bonds of love that unite fathers and children on this occasion.

Father's Day

Father's Day is a global social celebration honoring fathers. It is celebrated on different days in various parts of the world. Many Arab countries celebrate it on varying days throughout the month of June. Many Western countries celebrate it on June 21st, but most countries celebrate it on the third Sunday of June, due to its connection to an American woman who wanted to honor her father. This day is considered an opportunity to celebrate and appreciate fathers and the important role they play in our lives.

The Idea of Father's Day

In 1909, the idea of dedicating a day to honor fathers came from Sonora Louise Smart Dodd, a woman from Spokane, Michigan, in the United States. Sonora got this idea after listening to a religious sermon during a Mother's Day celebration. This sermon inspired her to honor and appreciate fathers in a similar way to Mother's Day. Thanks to her efforts, the first official Father's Day celebration was held in 1910 in the city of Spokane.

The Occasion of Father's Day

Sonora Smart wanted to honor her father William Jackson Smart in particular, as he was raising six children on his own after the death of his wife Smart in 1898. So Sonora submitted a petition recommending the designation of a day to celebrate Father's Day, and this petition received support from some groups.

The first official Father's Day celebration was held on June 19, 1910. In 1972, US President Richard Nixon declared Father's Day a national holiday throughout the United States of America. This confirmed the importance of celebrating fathers and appreciating their role in society.

Father's Day in Islam

Honoring Fatherhood and Noble Paternal Duties

Father's Day is considered an important occasion in Islam to honor fathers and celebrate their great role in family life and society. Islam places great value on fatherhood and considers it one of the foundations of a healthy and balanced family life.

In the Holy Quran and the Prophetic Sunnah, we find many verses and hadiths that point to the importance of honoring fathers and fulfilling paternal duties correctly and nobly. Allah Almighty has commanded us to be dutiful to parents and respect them, describing the parent as one who "has enjoined upon you that you worship none but Him, and that you be good to parents" (Al-Isra: 23).

Paternal duties in Islam include providing a dignified livelihood for the family, raising children with good values and morals, teaching them knowledge and religion, and guiding them toward the right path. Fathers must be good role models for their children in righteousness, piety, and noble morals.

Father's Day in Islam is not merely a day for gifts and celebrations, but it reflects an opportunity to strengthen family bonds and deepen the relationship between fathers and children. Families can celebrate this day by exchanging sincere wishes and prayers, and offering expressive gifts that reflect their love and gratitude to fathers.

In the context of modern and fast-paced life, we should work to honor fathers throughout the year and not only on Father's Day. Ways of honoring them can include listening to them and respecting their opinions, offering help and support in their daily needs, and participating in enjoyable activities and conversations with them.

What Father's Day Reflects

Father's Day in Islam reflects the spirit of sacrifice, love, and respect that should exist in the relationship between father and children. It reminds us of the importance of noble fatherhood and its decisive role in raising future generations and building a strong and sound society. Therefore, we must seize this opportunity to appreciate fathers and honor them for what they provide for us.

In Conclusion

We must remember that Father's Day in Islam is not merely a celebratory day, but a reminder of the importance of fatherhood and our commitment to fulfilling paternal duties with dignity and nobility. We must be grateful to fathers who strive diligently to care for us and guide us, and we must honor and support them throughout the year.

So, on Father's Day, let us express our love and gratitude to our fathers, offer them prayers, gifts, and warm embraces, and show them that they are important people in our lives. And let us always remember that parental duty is not confined to one day, but is a lifelong commitment.

Let us make Father's Day in Islam an opportunity to strengthen family bonds, and let us work together to build a society that respects and values the role of fathers in raising future generations. And let us pray to Allah to bless all fathers and grant them success in their noble mission to be good role models for their children, and to grant them happiness and peace in their lives.

May all fathers be well every year, and Happy Father's Day to all fathers in the Islamic world and beyond.

And here, dear friends, we have successfully completed the mission ✌
