Google Accidentally Sends Users Amounts of Up to $1000
Google Pay users noticed that the company was sending up to $1000 in cash to their accounts for free.
It all started on Tuesday, when Google Pay users turned to social media to ask why they were being paid.
A tech journalist (Mashaal Rahman) posted a tweet on Twitter saying: “Oh, it seems like (Google Pay) is giving random users free money right now.” along with a screenshot of the amount.
In a series of posts, confused Reddit users also posted comparing the amounts they received or wondering how to make the most of the money.
One user wrote: “I have now earned about $100 in 6 different cashback rewards for testing the Google Money Transfer experience“.

According to Ars Technica, Google Pay botched its rewards program, which is much like any other rewards program where you get a discount or a dollar or two for using the service regularly.
But what is different in this case is that these financial rewards were supposed to be distributed to company employees in exchange for what is called a “dogfooding” experience, where developers get to use their own products (such as apps) for a period of time for testing purposes, before release.

For some reason, these compensation payments were sent to a group of random Google Pay users. As for the company, it blamed what happened on a “bug” in an email sent to surprised (Google Pay) users a few days later.
The company said: “You received this email because an unexpected cash balance was deposited into your (Google Pay) account. The issue has been resolved, and where possible, the balance has been reversed”.
In the end:
Let's assume that anyone who left money in their (Google Pay) account had their balance reversed, while those who were quick to withdraw their balance kept the amount and the company was unable to reverse it.
