This decision was made to align storage standards with prevailing practices in the digital platforms sector, as the company noted that the vast majority of user interactions with live stream content occur within the first few days of publishing.

Saving Mechanism and Procedure Details:

  • Users who publish live streams after the mentioned date will be required to manually download the recordings within a 30-day window to avoid automatic deletion.
  • The process will include deleting all archived recordings that are more than 30 days old, with advance notifications sent via email and the app 90 days before removal, to enable users to save or transfer their content.

User Support Tools:
Facebook is implementing the gradual deletion of old recordings over the coming months, while providing a package of solutions to simplify the saving process, including:

  1. Downloading videos individually or in bulk within specific time periods.
  2. Directly transferring content to cloud storage services (such as Google Drive and Dropbox).
  3. Accessing recordings via:
    • Activity Log ← filter results using the “Live Videos” option.
    • The Video tab or Live in your profile or through Meta Business Suite, then selecting “Download Video” from the dropdown menu (the three dots).

 

Extension Option:
For users who need additional time, the platform provides a “Snooze Request” feature, which grants them up to 6 months to save their content, by clicking “Snooze” after opening the notification and selecting “Learn More”.

It is worth noting that this step comes within the framework of improving data management policies, while maintaining a balance between user needs and platform operational efficiency.
