How Do Hackers Exploit Telegram to Send Forged Messages and Compromise Devices? A Message That Arrives on Telegram — Never Interact With It

Telegram is one of the most secure messaging apps thanks to its strong encryption and advanced features, but that does not mean it is immune to exploitation. In recent years, Telegram has become a preferred tool for hackers to carry out phishing attacks and compromise devices through forged messages. So how does this happen?

In this article, which will include a video on the topic along with an image inside the video showing this type of targeting — namely names of tools and programs —

the goal is to get you to click on or interact with them, at which point you are immediately trapped as a victim. Be careful!

1. Techniques Hackers Use to Target Victims via Telegram

A. Phishing via Fake Links

Hackers create malicious links and send them to victims via Telegram. These links are usually disguised as official websites, such as:

  • Fake login pages that resemble bank websites or social media platforms.
  • Software download sites that contain malware.
  • Pages claiming to offer free services like “Get free internet” or “Win a valuable prize”.

As soon as the user enters their data on these sites, it is stolen and sent to the hackers.

B. Sending Malicious Files Directly

Telegram allows files to be sent easily, which enables attackers to send malware in the form of (APK, EXE, DOCX, PDF) files containing viruses or spyware such as:

  • RAT (Remote Access Trojan) software that gives the hacker full access to the device.
  • Keyloggers that record everything the victim types, including passwords.
  • Ransomware that encrypts the victim's files and demands a ransom to decrypt them.

C. Compromising Accounts via Fake Verification Messages

Hackers send victims messages containing fake verification codes and ask them to forward the real code they receive from Telegram. Once the code is obtained, the hacker can log in to the victim's account and steal their data.

2. How to Protect Yourself from These Attacks

Do not click on any suspicious link, even if it appears to come from a trusted source.
Verify the sender's identity before opening any file or link.
Enable two-step verification (2FA) on your Telegram account to prevent it from being stolen.
Never share verification codes with anyone, even if they claim to be from Telegram support.
Use security software that is always kept up to date to detect any threats.
Do not download apps or files from untrusted sources from unknown individuals.

Finally

Telegram, despite its security, is not immune to exploitation by hackers. Therefore, you must always be aware of the latest fraud methods and act cautiously when dealing with any suspicious message. Remember that caution is the first line of defense against any hacking attempt!
