A New Feature in WhatsApp: Organizing Chats and Custom Lists

The new feature for organizing chats has already appeared in the app version on Android devices, and it is expected to reach users gradually over the coming days if it is not yet available to some of them.

It is worth noting that WhatsApp added, at the beginning of last month, a mini shortcut (Widget) for chats on the home screen of iPhone devices. This update allows users to add a Widget to the home screen by editing the interface, providing multiple options for quick access to favorite conversations such as “Recents”, “Favorites”, “Pinned”, or “Frequently Contacted”.

WhatsApp has also enhanced the camera experience by supporting image zoom with capabilities ranging between 0.5x and 3x, in addition to the ability to mention others in the Status feature by pressing the @ button while typing.

However, WhatsApp confirmed that these updates will not be available to all users at the same time, but will be rolled out gradually over the coming weeks.

WhatsApp Tests an Automatic Blocking Feature for Messages from Unregistered Numbers

The popular messaging service WhatsApp has begun testing a new feature that enables automatic blocking of messages received from numbers not registered in the contact list. To activate this feature, users can go to the privacy settings in the app, then select the “Advanced” tab and enable the “Block unknown account messages” option.

How the Feature Works

When this option is activated, messages will be automatically blocked from unknown accounts that send a large number of messages within a short period of time. This provides better protection against spam or harmful messages.

Targeting Spam Messages

It is important to note that this feature does not block all messages from unknown accounts randomly, but rather targets only those accounts that exhibit suspicious behavior. Therefore, users can continue to receive important messages from unknown contacts while keeping their devices protected from spam messages.

Automatically Lifting the Block

Furthermore, the system automatically lifts the block when the message rate returns to normal, ensuring that not all accounts are blocked permanently; rather, the block is limited to accounts showing unusual activity.
